How to Compress a PDF to 100KB (Free, No Upload)

Many portals cap uploads at 100KB — exam forms, visa applications, tender portals and email attachments are the usual culprits. Here's how to hit exactly that size with PaperRail, where your document is compressed inside your browser and never uploaded anywhere.

Steps

  1. Open the Compress PDF tool.
  2. Drop your PDF into the page (or click to pick a file).
  3. Set the target size to 100 with the unit set to KB.
  4. Click Compress. The tool re-encodes images and streams down the page payload until it fits.
  5. Download the result and check the size shown next to the button.

What if it can't reach 100KB?

If your PDF is mostly full-resolution scans, compression has to throw away image detail to hit a small target. Two practical adjustments:

Why compress in the browser at all?

Upload-based compressors send your document to a server, keep it for processing, and delete it later "eventually". PaperRail runs the compression engine locally via WebAssembly, so files with IDs, contracts or medical scans stay on your machine. It's also instant — no queue, no waiting on someone else's CPU.

Same workflow, different targets: the tool accepts KB or MB, so "2MB" or "500KB" works identically.
